Gisselfeld was designed by Jacob Bang for Holmegaard glassworks. The glass was made between 1933 - 1970. The glasses have a gold rim on the rim and on the base.

Jacob E. Bang, Holmegaard's artistic director from 1928 to 1941, instrumental in Holmegaard gaining a leading position in industrial glass production. The Gisselfeldt series was produced before, during and after World War II. During the war years there was a shortage of gold, and therefore the Gisselfeld glasses were produced without a gold rim during the war years.
